Kanata
With a population over 100,000, Kanata is one of Ottawa’s largest suburbs but it offers so much more than just houses. It is the home of Ottawa’s high tech district and is located just west of the City. Shopping and entertainment are also a focus with many great amenities: the Canadian Tire Centre (home of the Ottawa Senators), Tanger Outlets, and Kanata Centrum to name a few. The area is filled with schools, parks, and recreation facilities making it a great place to live for any family!
Parkwood Hills/Borden Farm
Located adjacent to the Merivale Road shopping area, this area provides proximity to many amenities, including parks, schools, and even an outdoor city-run swimming pool and tennis courts at the General Burns Community Centre. This area features mostly single family homes but there are also areas with apartments and townhomes.
Hog’s Back/ Mooney’s Bay/Prince of Wales
With their proximity to the water and many recreational facilities, these neighbourhoods have a lot to offer. Visit the Hog’s Back Falls or check out the many offerings at the Mooney’s Bay Park. This area is not far from anything including shopping, and it is an easy commute to downtown as well as Carleton University.
Centrepointe/College
This area was the centre of the former City of Nepean and features many great amenities. It is home to Algonquin College and Centrepointe Theatre along with many great shopping options including College Square. The area features many schools, recreation facilities, and parks.
Nepean
Nepean is made up of multiple communities that were formerly part of the City of Nepean. Bells Corners, Craig Henry, Centrepointe, and College Square are amongst the most popular. This area is home to Algonquin College, Centrepointe Theatre, The Nepean Sportsplex, Bayshore Shopping Centre and many other great stores and restaurants. It is bordered by the Greenbelt which provides lots of greenspace to its residents.
Stittsville
Stittsville is a small suburban community with a population of just over 25,000 located to the South West of the city. The site of extensive growth in recent years, Stittsville combines both older and new construction homes. A great community for families, it has many parks, recreation facilities, and schools. Stittsville also offers great services for seniors and it is a great place to retire to!
Richmond
Richmond is a small village of less than 5000 people located on the South Western city limits. Richmond features small stores and restaurants and is sometimes seen as a great bedroom community for the City of Ottawa. It has a small town charm but you are only minutes from the big city!
Carp
Carp is a compact rural community located on Carp River to the North-West of the City of Ottawa. This community has seen extensive growth in recent years and it combines new construction with historic older homes. It is home to the famous Carp Farmer’s Market and the Carp fair. It’s main attraction is the Diefenbunker, Canada’s Cold War Musem – a formerly top-secret underground bunker originally built to house members of the Canadian government in the case of a nuclear attack.
